Tribute & Message From The Family

LINDA B. KOPANS

Kopans, Linda B. of Shrewsbury, Natick, Wellesley, and Brookline, MA; died on June 8, 2021, at home surrounded by her devoted husband and her loving daughters and son-in-law.

Linda was born on April 19, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended Brookline High School. As a younger girl, she enjoyed swimming and horseback riding, and she treasured her time as a camp counsellor at Camp Birch Hill. She, like her father, had a beautiful singing voice and sang as a mezzo soprano in many temple choirs. She had two daughters with her first husband, Melvyn Copen. During that marriage, she lived in India, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, and she travelled to many countries around the globe, the more exotic of which included China, and Egypt. She lived in Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Georgia.

Linda graduated in 1961 from Simmons College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She later studied nursing at Dekalb Community College and became an R.N. in 1980. She completed her formal education at Harvard University, earning a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1985. She worked as a psychiatric nurse and later practiced Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, and Kabbalistic Health. She helped many people to suffer less pain and healing was her calling. She was very active in lending aid to a leper colony in Nicaragua.

Beginning a new chapter, Linda married her great love, Arnold Pinsley. They first met in 3rd grade and reunited when they were 50 years old. They were blessed with 22 years of marriage. She had an enormous, authentic and generous heart, and was known for her smile, sparkling eyes, and sense of humor. She had a love of "tchotchke's" and her home displays a collection that well-reflects her travels and her loves, particularly her affection for dachshunds.

Linda was the adoring younger daughter of William Kopans and Charlotte (Wasserman) Kopans. She also cherished her step-mother, Elaine (Jolles - Wexler) Kopans and her mother's-n-law, Frieda (Kroun – Copen) Zucker and Doris Pinsley, all of whom predeceased her.

Linda is survived by her husband, Arnold Pinsley; her sister and brother-in-law Rona and Bob Rosenthal; sisters-and brother-in-law, Gennah Copen, Marah Loft, and Paul Lind; brother-in-law James Goldstein; step-brothers and sisters, Robert (Bobby) Wexler (Gayle Slattery), Ellen Eckman (Fred Eckman), Kenneth Wexler (Barbara Wexler), Donald Wexler (Lise Wexler); her daughters and son-in-laws, Erika (Copen) Grubbs and Samuel Grubbs, and Susan Copen and John Holtey; three much loved grandchildren, Riley Ellingsen, Bailey Ellingsen, and Ryan Grubbs; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Ilona Copen Goldstein.

Linda lived in many places; but, through all of her travels, her heart stayed firmly rooted in New England. She loved spending time at her family's camp in the Belgrade Lakes and was blessed to spend the last weekend of her life there, soaking in the calls of the loons, the gentle lapping of the waves, the sweet smell of the pines, and the laughter of those she loved the most.

Shivah will be held from Sunday, June 13th through Tuesday, June 15th between the hours of noon and 3:00 p.m. at Linda and Arnold's home at The Residence at Orchard Grove, 258 Walnut Street, Apartment #317, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

The family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation in Linda's name to any charity they wish to support.
